People, since Aman and lets not forget other core members also (who I am sure have racked up a lot of out of pocket cost) we as a community should gather funds for administrative cost also. GC is not just Aman's/ pappu/logiclife and others core member's dream...its OUR dream, and its not fair that in spite of knowing the time and money spent by the core members we donot share the burden.
So here is what I am thinking, there are 21000+ members of which I think 10,000 can be considered the real people (I am sure there are more..but a real conservative estimate) if we all pitch in $10 for administrative cost I think it would not put any dent in our pockets and this collective effort would not create a financial burden on any of the core members.
Any thoughts!

Which bills are you talking about? I read most were dropped from Iraq funding bill that passed recently.

I am preparing an article for NY times explaining our sufferings! Please contribute your thoughts.
1. What is America losing because of our prolonged wait for Green Cards?
2. How people who have green cards are contributing to the country as a whole ?
3. What if the whole green card process takes less than 3 years ?
Few obvious things are we would have bought a house, gone up in our carrier ladder, spend more and contribute to the economy, our spouse could have started working etc....
I am looking for thoughts and experience other than the above things.

Listened to the recording. I simply cannot believe what the host was babbling again and again about. He was repeatedly asking Jay “Why should the laws be changes which were set 50 years ago?” I will tell him why the laws are normally changed in general (not related to our case at all). They are changed because by definition law is supposed to be just; it is supposed to be equal. It is required to be non-discriminating. It is changed because people’s life is affected adversely if it remains constant. Laws of nature are the only set on laws that cannot change and that is true because they took billions and billions of years to perfect themselves. Laws of any country on this earth are not perfect. They are made by human beings, who tend to make lot of mistakes. Now, what is amendment? It is a set of new rules that are written to rectify any mistakes made in the existing laws. That itself is changing the law, my friend Raj. There is no county on this earth whose laws have remained the same for a very long period of time, and yet keeping all the people in that country happy. Laws get changed because of the new values added to the system. That is why, my friend Raj, slavery was abolished in 1863 by President Lincoln (BTW my most favorite President). This did not happen by magic. It happened only when the president issued an Emancipation Proclamation, which basically is a law and the jist of that is , "all persons held as slaves henceforward shall be free”. Now how did this happen? Because of the civil war and why did the civil war took place? Simply because people cannot take it anymore. What if out of all 10000 , 9999 don't have priority date current.Do you think they will still not look at the 1 in the pile which has a current PD.They will look at it , Even if it is number 10000 in the list.Actually there will be no pile because 9999 people won't even be in contention.
Why do you think labour substitution was so HOT?Just because by getting an earlier PD , you were going to steam roll everybody who filed before you , just because you got an earlier PD..
In your case you will get the percedence over the 2001 PD. His is PD is not curent at time of processing. If the cut off date is after 2002 which means both are cuurent then the later guy will take precedence since his RD is earlier than your's.

Please dont say anything against anyone without understanding the point.
Who the hell gave you the right to twist my statement and personally attacking me as "anti immigrant" ?? Where i have said that reversal of 20 K GC will help us ??
My simple point is the whole USCIS process is broken and that needs to be improved and rationalized . Now you/me/an immigrant can't initiate that process. The push has to come from influential CITIZENS who we call Senators , Congress Man/Women, House Representatives and so on so forth.
For them to take a step they need push from american peoples. You know why CIR has failed - the senator phone lines were jammed , Talk radio was blasting Bush , Kennedy for doing behind the door deals.. that's why...
Your/my opinion never stalled CIR - its american citizens who stalled it.
Unless citizens see a good reason to overhaul USCIS process where the push would come from ??
If these are the ONLY arguments we can use to get media attention then let's not use them at all. This WILL hurt us more then it can help ! I have a question: Are you one of those anti-immigrant people because you sure behave like one !
If they revert the decisions for 20000 greencards and put the visas back in the pool, how would that help us ALL ???
