The status of AP seems to be changing practically everyday. The message (document mailed) first appeared on Jan 7, Then changed to Jan 8 with same message and today I see a date change in my portfolio (last updated section). Not sure when the document will actually get mailed...

Dems are unlilkely to support stand alone EB/ SKIL type legislations. They MAY agree for such legislation
(1) if they could get some cover with additional legislation like Durbin-Grasley restrictive bill on H1B - taking care of "middle class" "suffering" from "H1B cheap foreign labor" vote bank
(2) and get some pro-illegal legislation like DREAM act attached; taking care of Hispanic vote bank.

Iam not jumping on the bandwagon but my wife and I are contemplating about opening a (indian) restaurant and I would like to know if we can open one on H1b/EAD status? I know I could consult an attorney but we are not gonna open it right away so wanted to get some insight from experts on this.
If we cant open on our own due to technicalities can we open it in someones name who has a GC or citizenship (my sister and her family recently got citizenship) and work in that resturant as employees, atleast my wife if not me.?

Dear IV,
Its not about me. I am planning to do a flower or some campaign that all will agree upon in less than a week. We must do before the next bulletin comes out.
Is it possible for IV to send a very good number of flowers to the departments.
The basis for this is that some of the people here probably may not be comfortable to send to all the members due to whatever restrictions they may have(ideally they must be able to do themselves). If so, we can start a new campaign and make some fund and once again shoot that may flowers to make some difference. IV can go to a big place and place a huge order. Just my 2c.

Has anyone done refinance from BOA on EAD / AOS (expired H1B & I-94)?
My current home loan is with BOA & I am trying to refinance with them, but they say we can't approve now because of status. I locked in rate in Sept. 2010 & now I am stuck as rates have gone up. After 4 months they have denied.
I don't know how to proceed further. They are not ready to give any letter & the lending policy. Any suggestions please......

I think there are many ways to look at it. Doing Free service , yes it is a form of Gandhigiri, but will that cause the lawmakers to recognize us and pass laws in favor o fus..I do not think so.
I think our situation is no different than people in South Africa in Gandhian times. How Gandhi fought for them is by writing and writing and pestering the Authorities to reduce unfair taxes on Indians in SA and to solve other problems they had like cannot ride in the same Trains/cars as Whites etc...., fighting for their rights in a Vocal but Non Voilent - non aggressive approach.
We, in this post , have equated Gandhigiri with - divide ur attention - Go Do MBA- be occupied with something else while u are retrogressed, furthur ur career/skills,,,etc I do not think that is what Gandhigiri is about i.e. doing something for the self, but instead do it for the community. In this case IV is our community and its leaders are doing the right thing for our cause and if we continue to support that by adding members, funds we will do a fair bit of gandhigiri towards our cause.

I need info from the experts here. I am thinking of going with interfiling process rather than wait for the USCIS system to identify the case as current. One issue with my case is I-140 attorney (company lawyer) is different from I-485 attorney (outside company). My company attorney has forwarded the copy of I-140 to my I-485 attorney. Is I-140 copy enough or must submit original with the interfiling process ?
The following thread in Immigrationvoice says, lawyer needs to send original I-140 with interfiling process.

This is a really good site that shows the trends for everything (PERM, H1 transfer etc). Although the accuracy depends on the number of people who add their cases, it was almost exact to the day for my H1 transfer.
