Any advantage of opening an account on USCIS website to receive automatic case status updates? or I don't need to do that if I keep checking the status online by myself?

Hello gurus,
I have a few questions about my case.
I have a 3year degree in Bachelors of Science (Maths) and a 1 year degree in BS in Computer Information systems from Golden Gate University in (San Francisco, CA). However at the time of my GC filing, my lawyer advised me that i cannot file for EB2 but for EB3, since my bachelors degree does not evaluate to a 4 year US degree (based on the single source rule). So i had to file my I-140 in EB3.
Recently i read an article on murthy.com http://www.murthy.com/news/n_combdg.html this article clearly mentions that the person I-140 was denied by USCIS but the AAO overturned the case. I asked my lawyer about this, she says that even thought the person had two degree, they were from the same university, but from my understanding ethiraj college is an autonomous university.
I have a feeling my case is similar, what do you'll think i should do..

I think it will be taken care automatically, ( since your A number on I 485 and new I 140 will be the same )
Thanks
So, you think i wouldn't have to file a new I-485? and USCIS will automatically look at my old I-485?
Thanks

Hi,
Me and my wife went to India and I came back one week back with my ex employer visa without any problem,I had to show only the I-797 for the current company where I am working. My wife she is still in India coming back to US in September.
I am sending my I-797 original to her in the mail.
My concern is will the immigration officer ask her for my I-797 approval or her I-797 approval ( she is on H4). We don't have an I-797 approval for her as my H1 was applied before we got married. My current H1 is expiring on Jan 19th 2009 so we applied for extension for both of us and got the approvals but its only valid from Jan 19th 2009.
Any replies greatly appreciated.
thanks

I have a approved I140 from my current employer with prority date of may 2006. I had applied a labor long time back in Jan 2004 with another employer. This labor is approved now. Can I apply another I140 with the old empoyer without revoking the one that I have with the current employer as I want to stay with the current employer till I get the new I140 approved? Will applying the I140 with the old affect my current I140 approval.

Here's an article I co-wrote for Bloomberg on I-9 and E-Verify issues facing health care employers. Not so much political as practical, but for those readers in health care or who advise health care clients, it may be helpful. Employment Eligibility Immigration Compliance: Managing I-9 and E-Verify Risk in the Healthcare Industry -

We filed our 485 on July 2nd 2007 at Nebraska office EB3 July 7, 2001
- The case was shifted to Texas and we received notices from Texas office with receipt date of August 27.
- Our date is now current however processing at Texas is still stuck at June 27, 2007.
- Does this mean our RD is now 08/27/07 even though it was recd. at Nebraska on 07/02/07??

Peri Software Solutions Inc., a New Jersey-based software company, has recently been cited by the Department of Labor for wage law violations in connection with 163 H-1B visa employees. The company is accused of not paying prevailing wages to its H-1B workers, most of whom are software and technology analysts. Under H-1B regulations, employers are required file a Labor Condition Application (LCA) as part of the H-1B petition for immigrant workers. By doing so, the employer agrees to pay the employee a wage equal to or greater than the prevailing wage specified in the LCA. This wage must be paid...

Hi,
I have not filled for some of my address changes with the AR-11 forms, i was not aware of this. But in the G-325 it is asked for all the address in the past 5 years.
Will this create any problem. How should we correct this. Anybody has idea.

What is the deal with swift? I can render a scene with 6400 polygons, and
when I try to render one with only 390 I run out of memory!
No the shape is not more complex, in fact it is almost the same scene as the
6400 only minus many of the squares. Thats all that is in the scene squares, cant render squares with out what 200+ megs of ram. Im on a G4 any advice!

The Boston Globe reports on another case of a potential DREAM Act recipient facing deportation. Alan, the individual who is the subject of the story, is the son of Mexican migrant laborers, came to the US as an infant and his academic success has been an inspiration to children in his neighborhood. Like many others, he did not learn he was illegally present in the US until he was much older - in this case, high school. The Globe notes that Alan is going to leave the US: Now Alan sees Mexico as his only option. His mother is against...

I guess this has become typical of every lawmaker to say 'We need to reform ______', without initiating any action. So far health care, immigration, financial industry have gone in that blank, more to come..
Just like citizens criticize their governments, but when it comes to take action (cast their ballot atleast), they would choose not to.

I heard a fascinating interview of Kati Marton by Bob Edwards this weekend and am going to buy her new book Enemies of the People. The Hungarian-born Ms. Marton is a former ABC News reporter and NPR international correspondent. Journalism is in her blood. Her parents were reporters in Hungary for UPI and the AP and they risked their lives trying to report the truth in that country in the years leading up to the 1956 revolution. She writes about her parents' arrests by the secret police and the experience of living her first eight years in Hungary in her...

Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama will become the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee under which the Immigration Subcommittee is included. Sessions has been one of the Senate's most vocal opponents of immigration reform. Sessions may only be in for the remainder of this Congress and then he is expected to pursue the ranking position on the Budget Committee. Iowa Republican Chuck Grassley has indicated his interest in pursuing the Judiciary job when the next Congress is sworn in.

Hi Guys,
My sis recently changed her status successfully from B1 to H1. After the approval however (within 10-20 days), we saw soft LUDs on her previous H1 petitions (they were both with the same employer). The status hasn't changed however.
Has anyone experienced such a case?
One more thing - she had done her AR-11 address change online about a month ago. Could that have triggered these soft LUDs? If so, will they even go and change the address on petitions approved in the past?
Any inputs appreciated. Thanks.
